It’s that time of year again; the time we take our families out for camping, play a little football or just grill BBQ whilst drinking a beer or two. It’s the chance we get to reconnect with our family and friends while we get to enjoy the weather and cook like the men we are. So we are here to you improve your barbecue skills and I will also give you a warning of what not to do when you’re out there.
Things to do while cooking
1) Make sure to experiment! Use different kinds of seasonings and marinades on your meat because the barbecue sauce only might not give it the full flavor your friends and family want and deserve. Experimenting is learning and learning how to barbecue perfectly. Top the meat off with some garlic butter and you’ll be known as one of the best grillers in town.
2) Marinating is the key to having a top notch barbeque experience. You should always marinade your meat overnight because then the flavor will truly be absorbed in your meat. One more thing you can do is use the leftover marinade and brush it over your meat ideally every ten or twenty minutes to truly trap the taste.
3) We all tend to become meat-loving monsters while we barbecue, but you should definitely try to grill some vegetables, the taste will leave you spellbound. Just brush up your choice of vegetables and then wrap them up in aluminum foil and put them in the cooker.
4) We all tend to ignore fish as a source of meat when we barbecue but what we don’t know is that fish is extremely healthy and it tastes amazing. Go get yourself a juicy swordfish steak season it again with garlic butter and grill. Your taste buds will not be disappointed.
Things not to do while cooking
1) Leaving your meat room temperature for too long leads to bacteria building quickly and the meat tends to get really dry. It’s best to instead thaw your meat in a refrigerator. Thawing in a refrigerator will help your meat contain its juices and will also save it from all bacteria.
2) Piercing your meat with a fork leads to your meat getting really dry, as all the juices leave it from the cuts. You should invest in tongs if you already don’t own them, flipping them with tongs helps your meat remain juicy and fresh.
3) You should be really careful when you select your form of favorite heat, be it charcoal or a smoker. There are tips that you should follow like religion:
• Do not check your meat again and again because this may keep the necessary levels of heat below what is desired.
• Before using coals you should always light them half an hour before you start grilling and you should always spread aluminum foil on your cooker before you put the coals in, this will help you in cleaning up the mess easily and without a hassle.
